I'm sure everyone in the LGBTP community has had to deal with this. So, today I'm sitting at a computer at school, being my awkward and brisk self, when I hear, "I dare you to ask Tir out." Not only am I dealing with idiots, but with the guy who should win the "Pervert of the Year" award. I continue taking notes and staring at my computer screen, scribbling facts down about radar.
Then, this son of a biscuit gets way too close and says, "'Ey, Tir. You should be my girlfriend." It really annoyed me. People were laughing in the background. It was like being at a convention for misogynist perverts! I was practically being used for entertainment, plus, I was insanely uncomfortable, being the most stereotypically asexual person ever. Like, ever. I don't bother looking away from my computer screen and reply, "No." I understand that this was cold and maybe a bit uncalled for, but you have to understand, I hate this guy with my heart and soul. I'm not really going to get into that, because it's a long story.
Anyway, his friends are watching, so he keeps trying to beat my into submission. Not physically, but you know, the whole "humiliation and teasing" treatment. He starts getting on my case, and eventually ends with a smirking, "why, are you lesbian?"I kind of snapped at that point.
"No. Asexual. Go away," I said affirmatively, remembering all the times I had googled "how to be assertive". Well, then, he gave me the most annoying look I'd ever seen and starts giving me a hard time about it.
"So, you're going to be alone forever?" Polite enough, if you didn't know this guy. He did the whole polite tone and vile smirk thing, which really bothered me.
"Yes. Or maybe adopt a kid when I'm older."
"Mm, like Katherine. Ever seen a naked man?"
"No. I have no desire to. Go away."
And that's the gist of it. I have to wonder, what do you say when people won't leave you alone and confront you with rude questions and stereotypes? What kind of responses does a person give? Any help, any ideas? I don't have time to explain the whole thing to an idiot who really just wants to get under my shirt.
